Why Nehemiah matters
Nehemiah is the most practically political book in the Bible. He prays and works simultaneously — "the people had a mind to work" (4:6) and "we prayed to our God and set a guard against them" (4:9). The pairing is the book's wisdom. Spiritual renewal and practical reform happen together or not at all.
