Kerygma
Privacy Policy
How we handle your data.
Effective date: 22 April 2026 · Last updated: 13 August 2026
Who we are
Kerygma is an iOS app published by Genesis One. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the app and how we handle it. If you have questions, reach out through our support page.
What we collect
Kerygma is designed to collect as little personal data as possible.
- No user accounts. We don't ask you to register, sign in, or give us a name or email. Your trivia history, scores, and settings are stored only on your device.
- Questions you play. When you start a round, the app sends your chosen topics and difficulty to our server so we can request a fresh question from our AI provider. We do not log the text of questions served to you with any identifier linking them to you.
- Bible verse requests. The app fetches verse text from public Bible APIs (ESV.org for English, bible-api.com for Romanian, bible.helloao.org for Spanish). Their servers receive the verse reference you're viewing but no identifier about you.
- Subscription state. If you subscribe, Apple shares purchase receipts with our subscription provider (RevenueCat) so we can verify you're a paying subscriber. This includes an anonymous Apple-provided user ID, not your name or email.
- Crash and performance data. If the app crashes, Apple may collect anonymous diagnostic data from your device and share aggregate reports with us. You can opt out in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- How the app is used. We record which screens are opened and which features are used — a round started, a verse shared, the paywall viewed — so we can tell what is worth improving. These events carry a random identifier generated on your device, not your name, email, or advertising ID. We never record the text you type, and we do not use this data for advertising.
What we don't collect
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
Third parties we rely on
Kerygma uses a small set of third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Apple — for App Store purchases. Apple Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — for subscription verification. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Google (Gemini) — for generating trivia questions. Google Privacy Policy.
- Crossway (ESV API) — for English Bible verse text. ESV Terms.
- bible-api.com — for Romanian Bible verse text (Cornilescu).
- bible.helloao.org — for Spanish Bible verse text (Reina Valera 1909, public domain).
- Netlify — hosts our backend functions. Netlify Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — for anonymous product analytics: which screens are opened and which features are used, so we know what to improve. Events are keyed to the random device identifier described above, never to your name, email, or advertising ID, and are not used for advertising or shared with data brokers. PostHog Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Because we don't collect personal identifiers, there's no profile of you to access, correct, or delete. You can always uninstall the app to wipe everything stored on your device. If you've subscribed, you can cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions.
If you believe we have personal data about you and want to exercise your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, or any other applicable law, contact us through our support page. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Kerygma is suitable for all ages (4+), but we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes we'll also post a notice inside the app.
