Key verses

Why 2 Timothy matters

Paul's last letter, written shortly before his execution. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (4:7) is the apostle's farewell. 3:16–17 is the locus classicus for the inspiration of Scripture — "all Scripture is breathed out by God." The letter is Paul handing off the work to the next generation.
