Why Titus matters

Paul left Titus to "put what remained into order" on Crete (1:5). The letter is brief and practical — the same kind of pastoral instruction as 1 Timothy, applied to a different context. Chapters 2 and 3 contain two of the most concentrated summaries of the gospel in the NT — the grace of God appearing to bring salvation, training us to renounce ungodliness and live self-controlled lives.
