Key verses

Why Micah matters

Two famous verses: 5:2 (the Messiah from Bethlehem, quoted by the chief priests in Matthew 2:5–6) and 6:8 ("what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God"). Micah is brief, sharp, and indispensable — a prophet who refuses to let religion shake off its ethical demands.
