Key verses
Why Amos matters
Amos is the Bible's sharpest prophet on economic injustice. "Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream" (5:24) is his most-quoted line, picked up by Martin Luther King Jr. and a long tradition of prophetic preaching. The book insists that worship without justice is worship the LORD hates.
