Why 2 Chronicles matters
Chronicles ends not with destruction (as Kings does) but with the decree of Cyrus permitting the return — the last words of the Hebrew Bible. The structure makes a theological point: even at the lowest moment, God's purposes turn toward restoration. It's why the New Testament can present the resurrection as a continuation, not a contradiction, of the Old Testament story.
